about us
Empathy is a highly leveraged skill that it is at the core of many healthcare initiatives. Practicing empathy well makes the difference between increasing patient satisfaction and patient loyalty (increased revenue), the difference between being more sensitive to other cultures and being more effective with them (lowering malpractice risk, increasing patient satisfaction), the difference between an acrimonious law suit and mitigating a settlement or avoiding one altogether.
Interplay, Inc. specializes in training caregivers to work powerfully and compassionately with patients, especially in moments of crisis. Interplay has trained nurses to work effectively with patients who are security risks, mental health specialists to work with “unreachable” patients, chaplains to work with families deeply in grief, and therapists to work with patients who believe they are dying.
The core of our training is a process for creating compassionate connection—not just communications—that’s been field-tested for over 35 years. Our training technology—live scenarios—was developed over the course of six years and in more than 500 training sessions at a major university. Interplay staff has produced over a hundred custom trainings for hospitals, healthcare and social work trade associations, and university courses in business and medicine.
